MORE THAN A WATCH – WEWOOD AUSTRALIA

More than a watch with WeWOOD Australia

The watch that keeps on giving. Buy A Watch. Plant A Tree. Better The Planet.

“The Earth does not belong to us: we belong to the Earth – Marlee Matlin” don’t you agree? There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing the decisions you make on a day-to-day basis aid in making our home planet flourish. In my collaboration with WeWOOD Australia I wanted nothing more than to share their unique and beautiful vision, for a timepiece that keeps giving long after the purchase date. As the WeWOOD team puts it so eloquently “wooden timepieces designed to leave a positive environmental footprint. Completely absent of artificial or toxic material, WeWoodwatches are as natural and kind as the wrist that wears them.”

WeWood launched from Florence, Italy over 10 years ago and now has grown into an international brand focused on making people change their view on their typical watch. It’s quite fascinating how this watch comes together with 100% recycled or reclaimed timber, in various timbers including Indian rosewood, mahogany, coffee tree and teak. Each watch it truly unique & tells it’s own story but this is just the beginning of WeWood experience. Each time a watch is purchased, WeWOOD plants a tree, a real life tree to help restore and thank our environment for its bountiful land. Currently We Wood has teamed up with environmental organisations, American Forests and Trees for the Future. So far this inspiring partnership has planted over 400,000 trees! (Read more about it here) Isn’t that magical? Isn’t that grand? One single purchase you make with We Wood can make such a huge difference to the world we live in. As their motto reads “Buy A Watch. Plant A Tree. Better The Planet.” See the video on their program below:

Now wearing this watch is simply a dream, it is smooth on your skin and is very impressive in appearance, you will have people asking questions about this unique timepiece. As someone who doesn’t wear watches often I find this watch to be not only rewarding as it adds a new and exciting element to my day to day outfits but the story behind the watch just makes it that much better. The watch featured through-out this shoot is the Assunt Wood Watch in beige, a new addition to the array of watches WeWood have (check them out here!). You can even delve in deeper to the origin of the wood your watch is created with here.

It’s great to know where the pieces of wood originate from and holistic properties your time piece may hold. For example the beige wood, which is Maple sourced from China is known to “hold qualities of creation, communication, binding, revolution, rebirth, healing, beauty, art, and abundance. Both rebellious and tough, Maple can enhance intellectual pursuits and learning. Known as the traveler’s wood, those who enjoy change and movement are drawn to this type of energy.” I think I need all those things in my life! For this shoot I wanted to bring together harmony this watch brings to world, so what better than where the earth meets the sea. As the sunlight was about to kiss the earth for the last time, I explored a beach in Australia’s Sunshine Coast. Everything came together gracefully, it was truly a blissful moment.
