Meet WeWOOD Watches

Get to know what makes the creators behind WeWOOD Watches tick, check the interview below.

TFH: Describe the WeWOOD brand in 10 words or less?
WeWood: Original – cool – eco sustainable – affordable – repurposed – wellbeing – nature

TFH: What inspired WeWood to create watches?
WeWood: Mother Nature – Tuscany woods – challenge to innovate (both in business model and product creation) – Leonardo da Vinci and Pinocchio (our neighbours, we are located 4 km far from Leonardo da Vinci’s hometown, and 18km far from Collodi)

TFH: Where does the wood come from?
WeWood:  Old fishermen boats, damaged huts reclaimed in Indonesia – waste of production of furniture/wooden products factories

TFH: Who designs the movement?
WeWood: Movements are mainly from the Japanese Citizen (MIYOTA), some new models will be equipped with movements from ETA Swiss and Ronda (swiss). The Dial is designed by us, our internal and external designers.

TFH:  How important is sustainability to WeWOOD?
WeWood: Sustainability for WeWOOD is creating products with natural/repurposed components/treatments, packaging with recycled materials, but also sustainability of the business model. WeWOOD is worried about the actual fashion business model and we are studying a new way to do business that will impact less on the environment and people.

TFH: For each watch a tree is planted, how many trees has WeWOOD planted so far?
WeWood: See our tree map here, we plant trees for every product we make, (also eyewear for now, not only watches). So far over 400,000 trees!

TFH: What is the WeWood vision for the future?
WeWood: Spread the new WeWOOD philosophy about consumer awareness, making consumers understand how their choice can help the environment. We would like to sensitize consumers about reclaim/re-use/waste/deforestation. WeWOOD influenced the market to let the concept of “fashion” evolving to eco-affordable-fashion.
