How To Dress for a Flight

7 PIECE FLIGHT CAPSULE WARDROBE

How to dress for a flight where style meets comfort

When it comes to dressing for flying, it can be tricky. You want to be in complete comfort but it you love fashion like me, sometimes you want a little bit of flair. I’ve been flying on planes ever since I was a young. Taking the 5 hr flight from Brisbane to Perth each year to visit my family on the other side of Australia. My grandmother always taught me to take pride in my appearance when travelling.

When it comes to dressing for flights it’s all about making you comfortable, so make sure you choose wisely. Because there is nothing worse than annoying clothes during a long flight.  So I’ve formulated a go to capsule for those who fly a lot. Check my 7 piece flight capsule wardrobe below!

1. T-SHIRT

This is obviously the number one pieces to have, depending on the climate you are heading to you’ll have to change the length. Summer = short sleeve or singlet. I find the best to be cotton, lyocell or bamboo. These fabrics are breathable and perfect for all skin types.

2. LONG SLEEVE T-SHIRT

Winter = long sleeve or turtle neck. Material options I find the best to be cotton, lyocell or bamboo. These fabrics are breathable and perfect for all skin types.

3. WIDE LEG PANT

The reason I opt for wide leg pant is because it’s comfortable and also makes the look more finished. I find jeans and leggings too tight and thin. Where wide leg pants are the perfect weight and the length will keep you warm. Another benefit is your look will complete and polished.

4. MAXI DRESS

Depending on my mood sometimes a dress just feels more comfortable that day. When choosing the correct dress, make sure it’s a cotton fabric or something soft to the touch. Make sure it has room for you to move, avoid skin tight otherwise you’ll be adjusting yourself the whole flight.

5. OUTERWEAR – JACKET or HOODIE

Depending on the climate you are heading to, you’ll have to chose accordingly. Summer = Jacket or Hoodie and Winter = Coat or Knit. Whether it be a two hour flight or a 48 hour flight, you will need a jacket or coat. It get’s cold on the plan and you want to make sure you take care of yourself on that journey. When ever travelling to winter climates I always opt for a long heavy coat on the plane. And any other flights I wear my bomber jacket. That’s it!

6. COAT OR KNIT

Make sure you get the right fit for your coat, I always love oversized. Sometimes I use my heaviest jacket in my suitcase for my flight. Saving weight in my luggage which is always a bonus. Investing in a great knit or coat is essential for a great travel wardrobe.

7. SNEAKERS

The only shoe I fly with is my most comfortable pair of sneakers. Which is either my Converse (that are half a size too big, I like it that way) or my Supergas. Both are in white, so it pairs back with anything I wear.

I’ve put together some combinations so you can try out these looks for flying. Let me know in the comments which combination is your favourite!
