CONCRETE JUNGLE – THE URBAN NEWTOWN HOTEL

When travelling to Fashion Week Australia in Sydney, the first thing that comes to mind is where am I going to stay? First you have to consider how far you are willing to travel when heading to an event, especially when you have outfit changes between shows. So when it came to booking a place with myself, and my other fellow Brisbane fashion bloggers, a quick Google search sorted me out in a hot minute.

The Urban Newtown Hotel, a newly renovated hip hotel in the heart of Newtown which thankfully was only 5 a minute drive from Carriageworks. Making it the perfect little spot to start our fashion week journey, so myself, Rachele Edson, Kate from Pretty Dresses in the Laundry and Isabella Thompson from Style Market teamed up with The Urban Newtown Hotel to showcase what this Newtown gem has to offer. Because it is fashion week I thought it would be perfect to shot one of my favourite looks from Fashion Week.

As I walked down the stairs of the hotel with our photographer Azar Image, we found a little concrete oasis at the bottom of the hotel. Where lush greenery surrounded the cement structure in the middle of The Urban Newtown Hotel, covered in graffiti and hanging musical instruments. It’s quite a refreshing sight to see, as the Newtown suburb is filled to the brim with artistic graffiti on every wall. This fusion of Newtown and the hotel is shown not only throughout the building but also in the rooms themselves with pictures hanging from the wall showcasing the local street art.

We shot on the bottom floor of The Urban Newtown Hotel where we catch the glistening morning sun beaming through the center structure. Wearing Pasduchas adorned with Dark Horse & Au Revoir Les Filles jewelry over my new favourite Zara Pants. I felt that this place has something unique just like fashion week, when it comes to not only the innovative fashion presentations and street style.
