VELVET OR TARTAN?
WHICH WESTFIELD CHERMSIDE AUTUMN WINTER TREND DO YOU LOVE?
VELVET VS. TARTAN – WHAT TREND WILL YOU PICK?
I couldn’t wait to visit the new Westfield Chermside, especially to shop all the new stores including H&M, Sephora and Zara, and see all Autumn Winter trends that are rolling out to Queensland shoppers. I wanted to tackle two of the major trends this year – Velvet and Tartan. As always, I encourage you to indulge in these trends as you see fit. But if you haven’t tried them before, here is some guidance before you hit the shops.
First we have Velvet, which has been welcomed back from the 70’s. Thanks to luxury Australian designers TOME, Dion Lee and international designers such as Tib, this trend was blowing up at NYFW – and now we are seeing it on our shores for Autumn Winter. When dressing for this trend, I wanted to play with it rather than fully immerse myself in it, as Velvet is a trend I haven’t tried before. Whilst picking pieces for this look, I chose a Veronika Maine Velvet Bomber and Betts for her Velvet Strappy Heels.

Hello – Tartan
First of all, I love Tartan. Most probably due to my vague, very vague, punk stage in my adolescence. Due to its resurgence on the runway with designers such as Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana, it’s a staple trend here this season. Layering the look with denim coats or even belting it can make it more fun to play with. As I mentioned before, I couldn’t resist going full out with the look. A tartan slip dress is a great piece to layer with.
